Assam tensions flare after council leader’s inflammatory remarks spark outrage

Tensions have risen in Assam after Tangkeshwar Rabha, the Chief Executive Member of Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council, allegedly made inflammatory remarks targeting members of six ethnic communities, including the Ahoms. The Tai Ahom Youth Council has strongly condemned the statement, calling it hateful and divisive.

At a press conference, Dip Jyoti Duwara, the Central Joint Secretary of the Tai Ahom Youth Council, slammed Rabha's remarks as 'deeply hateful and shameful'. He described them as 'hateful and derogatory', stating they not only divide society but also hurt sentiments. The council has urged the government to take strict action against such individuals who spread communal hatred and disrupt social harmony.

Despite the gravity of the situation, the name of the State Minister in Assam responsible for overseeing law enforcement related to hate speech and social harmony remains unclear from the available search results.

The alleged remarks by Tangkeshwar Rabha have sparked outrage among the Tai Ahom community and other ethnic groups. The Tai Ahom Youth Council has called for swift action from the government to maintain social harmony and prevent further escalation of tensions.
