It was part of a nationwide observance launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. The Dibrugarh event concluded with a cultural presentation featuring patriotic songs and a felicitation ceremony for the participating artists.

Minister Phukan highlighted the enduring power of 'Vande Mataram' to unite Indians across regions, languages, and generations. The participants joined a live telecast from New Delhi, where Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the year-long celebration by releasing a commemorative stamp and coin dedicated to 'Vande Mataram'.
