Assam’s fisheries event trains 214 to spark rural aquaculture innovation
A day-long event to boost entrepreneurship in the fisheries sector took place at the College of Fisheries in Raha. Organised by the District Industries and Commerce Centre (DI&CC), Nagaon, in partnership with the college, the programme attracted over 214 participants from Nagaon and Hojai districts. The focus was on innovative aquaculture models to create rural jobs and increase incomes.
The event began with a welcome address by Dr. Pabitra Sahariya, Associate Professor at the College of Fisheries. He stressed the need for capacity building and fresh ideas in aquaculture to support local economies.
The event brought together farmers, entrepreneurs, and officials to explore ways of expanding the fisheries sector. With over 214 attendees receiving training and recognition, the programme aimed to build skills and foster new business ventures in aquaculture.
