Assam's youth debate Union Budget 2026 at Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament

A two-day State Level Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament (VBYP) 2026 began on Wednesday in Guwahati. The event gathered young delegates from across Assam to discuss policies and sharpen their debate skills. This year's focus is on the Union Budget 2026 and its role in shaping India's future by 2047.

The programme was officially launched at the Assam Legislative Assembly. Officials from the Sports and Youth Welfare Department, the Assam Legislative Assembly Secretariat, and the NSS Regional Directorate attended the opening session. Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat), Assam, organised the event alongside the National Service Scheme (NSS).

Over the two days, participants will take part in structured debates and policy discussions. The top three performers will earn the chance to represent Assam at the National Level Youth Parliament in New Delhi. The initiative aims to teach young people about parliamentary processes while fostering leadership and critical thinking. The chosen theme, *Union Budget 2026: Strengthening the Indian Youth's Path towards Viksit Bharat 2047*, guides the debates. Delegates will explore how budgetary decisions could impact youth development and national progress.

The Youth Parliament provides a platform for Assam's young voices to engage with governance and policy-making. Winners will advance to the national stage, presenting their ideas on a broader platform. The event continues to encourage civic participation among the state's youth.
