Assembly Tackles Unused Land: 85,500 Hectares in Focus
The Legislative Assembly, led by Chairman Yuriy Burlachko, has taken steps to address unused land for sale plots in the region. A resolution containing recommendations was adopted, instructing two committees to study the issue and propose amendments to current legislation.
The deputies discussed the involvement of unused plots, totalling 85,500 hectares, with almost 26,000 hectares potentially suitable for use. Agricultural producers can rent plots with forest belts without bidding if they operate on an adjacent plot. This move aims to maintain and care for forest belts, protecting soil from wind and water erosion.
To promote the use of unused land and eliminate barriers to its involvement, parliamentarians proposed several suggestions to the regional office for land relations. These include creating a land registry, analysing obstacles to use, simplifying use regulations, offering financial incentives, improving infrastructure, and fostering economic marketing. Additionally, since January 2024, over 7,000 hectares have been involved in the turnover through state contracts for cadastral works, with 31,400 land plots in regional ownership, mostly agricultural lands.
The parliament's actions aim to increase the efficiency of land use and strengthen the regional economy. With 411,000 hectares already used on a lease basis and 40,000 hectares on a permanent and gratuitous basis, generating an annual lease payment exceeding 2.2 billion rubles, these efforts could significantly boost the region's economic turnover.
