Astana fraudster jailed for fake subsidised student loan scam
A con artist in Astana has been jailed after tricking 16 people into paying for fake subsidised loans. The scammer posed as an employee of a well-known national company to gain their trust. His fraudulent scheme left victims with combined losses of over 4 million tenge.
The man convinced his victims he could secure them government-backed loans. He charged each person 100,000 tenge for his so-called services. None of the promised student loans ever materialised.
The case has now concluded with the fraudster behind bars and all funds returned. Officials continue to urge citizens to report suspicious loan schemes immediately. Verifying information through trusted sources remains the best way to avoid falling victim to similar scams.
