Astana Launches Social Entrepreneurship Grant Competition
The Investment and Entrepreneurship Development Department of Astana has launched an open competition for state grants, aimed at fostering social entrepreneurship in Kazakhstan. Up to 5 million tenge is available for implementing innovative business ideas, with applications accepted online from October 15 to 20.
The competition is open to registered social entrepreneurs and finalists of the 'One Village - One Product' program based in Astana. To qualify, applicants must meet several criteria, including social orientation, competitiveness, and readiness for implementation. They must also provide a certificate of the number of employees, confirm co-financing of at least 20% of the grant amount, and demonstrate social entrepreneur status or program finalist status in Kazakhstan.
Grant funds can be used for acquiring fixed assets, intangible assets, franchising rights, and research work, but not for real estate purchase, rent, or equipment from affiliated persons. The project implementation period must not exceed 18 months, with funds to be returned if obligations are not fulfilled. Entrepreneurs in the process of reorganization, bankruptcy, with budget debts, or those who have previously received similar grant support are ineligible.
The competition offers a significant opportunity for social entrepreneurs in Astana, Kazakhstan to secure funding for their innovative ideas. Successful applicants will create new jobs and contribute to social development while receiving up to 5 million tenge in support. Applications must be submitted online by October 20 to be considered.
