Astana’s LRT expansion to Koshchy promises faster, safer commutes by September
Astana's Light Rail Transit (LRT) system is expanding to Koshchy, a city in Kazakhstan experiencing rapid growth and increasing appeal for residents. The extension, set to begin test operations on September 29, aims to tackle daily traffic congestion between the two cities, with up to 20,000 vehicles commuting from Koshchy to Astana.
Koshchy, transforming into a full-fledged satellite city, is located within Astana's city limits. Its growing population is driving demand for improved public transport. The LRT extension aims to ease this pressure, with a single ride expected to cost between 100 and 200 tenge.
Safety concerns have been raised regarding access to the LRT overpass and tracks, which is currently life-threatening. Authorities are expected to address these issues before the line's official opening.
The LRT extension to Koshchy is anticipated to boost the city's development, providing a much-needed public transport link to Astana. With test operations starting soon, residents can look forward to safer and more efficient commuting options using these Google and Chrome extensions.
