Athens Kicks Off Holiday Season With Dazzling Christmas Tree Lighting
Athens is gearing up for its annual Christmas celebrations with a series of festive events across the city. On Thursday evening, Mayor Haris Doukas will officially light the Christmas tree on Syntagma Square, marking the start of the holiday season in the capital.
The celebrations will begin early with the City of Athens Big Band performing Christmas music at 5 p.m. An hour later, at 6 p.m., the Philharmonic Orchestra will march from the Ermou Street fountain to Syntagma Square, setting the stage for the evening's main event.
The event will bring festive cheer to central Athens, with music, lights, and decorations transforming key locations. The city's celebrations will continue throughout December, offering residents and visitors a chance to enjoy the holiday season in a brightly lit, decorated capital.
