Axam Xahitya Xabha Unites Barak and Brahmaputra Valleys in Silchar

The 3rd Central Executive Committee meeting of the Axam Xahitya Xabha kicked off in Silchar, paying tribute to late Zubeen Garg. Minister Kaushik Rai and President Basanta Kumar Goswami attended, aiming to strengthen ties between the Barak and Brahmaputra valleys.

Rai proposed installing a statue of Bhupen Hazarika in Silchar and organizing a programme for Sudhakantha's birth centenary. He also suggested observing Rabindranath Tagore's birth anniversary across Assam and establishing Chandra Kanta Handique Bhawans in the Barak Valley. Goswami reciprocated these proposals, expressing a desire to bring the two valleys closer.

The inaugural session was attended by local MLA Dipayan Chakrabarty and other office bearers. A souvenir titled 'Barak Vaibhav' was released during the session. This meeting marks a significant event, as the last central committee meeting in Cachar was held in 1986 in Hailakandi.

The 3rd Central Executive Committee meeting of the Axam Xahitya Xabha in Silchar has concluded with a focus on unity and fraternity between the Barak and Brahmaputra valleys. Minister Rai's proposals and President Goswami's support indicate a commitment to fostering cultural exchange and understanding between the two regions.
