Azerbaijan Proposes Joint Startup & Innovation Platform for OTS
Azerbaijan's Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov has proposed a significant initiative to boost innovation and startup development within the Organization of Turkic States (OTS). The proposal, unveiled at a ministerial meeting in Baku, centres around a joint Start-up and Innovation cooperation platform.
The proposed platform builds on Azerbaijan's existing efforts to foster its startup and innovation ecosystem. The country has already established the 'Sabah.hub' innovation centre, which connects young professionals, startups, and investors, supporting them from idea generation to commercialisation. This hub is backed by the Sabah Venture Fund, which invests in local innovation projects and builds new technology companies.
The new platform aims to strengthen regional collaboration and accelerate technological development across OTS member countries. It would enable the exchange of expertise, technological resources, and best practices among member countries. The initiative is part of Azerbaijan's broader strategy to diversify its economy and deepen regional economic integration. Another related proposal is the 'Turkic States Metrology Organization (TÜRKMET)', which seeks to enhance technological and research capacity.
Azerbaijan's proposal for a joint Start-up and Innovation cooperation platform within the OTS is a significant step towards bolstering regional innovation and startup development. The platform, if established, would build on Azerbaijan's existing efforts in this area and foster greater collaboration and knowledge exchange among OTS member countries.
