Azerbaijani community leader detained in Yekaterinburg fraud probe
Police in Yekaterinburg have launched searches at the home of Vidadi Mustafayev, the recently appointed leader of the Azerbaijani community in the Urals. Authorities suspect him of involvement in a land fraud case. The operation follows his detention outside a local gym earlier this week.
Mustafayev was taken into custody by special forces officers as he left a fitness centre in Yekaterinburg. His arrest came just three months after he took over as regional head of the Azerbaijani community in the Urals.
The case remains under investigation, with authorities continuing to gather evidence. Mustafayev’s detention marks the first public action in what appears to be an ongoing probe. Further details are expected once the Interior Ministry provides an official update.
