Bad Hindelang Council Fully Covers School Bus Costs for Farther Students
Bad Hindelang's council has decided to fully cover school bus costs for primary school children living more than 2 kilometers away from their schools. This decision affects 61 out of 108 eligible children in the municipality. The council agreed to this after the municipal auditing association advised them to make a formal decision on the transportation services.
The council's decision reverses a previous change made at the start of the new school year, when free school transportation was discontinued for many children. The former mayor, Adi Martin, had initiated free transportation for all children from Bad Oberdorf and Vorderhindelang, regardless of distance, but no council decision was recorded for this change.
The new council decision ensures that schoolchildren from Hinterstein, Unterjoch, and Oberjoch will continue to have their entire school bus costs covered, as they all live more than the legally required distance of 2 kilometers for primary school students. For children living between 1.3 and 2 kilometers away, the council agreed to cover half of their school bus costs. Discounted weekly tickets for eligible children cost 5.60 euros, with the municipality adding another 5.60 euros to cover the remaining costs.
Bad Hindelang's council has taken steps to ensure that primary school children have access to affordable transportation to and from school, in line with legal requirements. The new decision aims to support families and make education more accessible for children living in the municipality.
