Strobl: "No Socks Need a Knife at School" - Baden-Württemberg enforces total knife ban on all public transport

Baden-Württemberg has introduced a strict knife ban on all public transport, including blunt knives and multi-tools like Swiss Army knives. Interior Minister Thomas Strobl defended the measure as a necessary step to reduce knife-related violence and improve safety for passengers.

The new law prohibits carrying any type of knife—even everyday tools—on buses, trams, and trains across the state. Strobl made it clear that exceptions exist only for emergency responders, hunters, and those transporting knives in sealed packaging. Firefighters, paramedics, and civil protection workers may still carry blades if required for their duties.

The ban is now in force, with authorities prepared to enforce it strictly. Emergency workers and hunters remain exempt, but all other passengers must comply. Strobl’s stance reflects a broader effort to balance public safety with legal and practical considerations.
