Bamberg warns of holiday closures for passport and ID services
The City of Bamberg has reminded residents about upcoming closures and passport services ahead of the New Year. The Resident Services Office and Info Desk will shut from December 29, 2025, to January 2, 2026. Travellers are being urged to plan ahead for document renewals or applications before the holiday period begins.
Passport and ID card processing times vary depending on the document. Standard passports take around four to five weeks, while national ID cards are ready in two to three weeks. For those in a hurry, expedited passports can be produced within five business days.
With the holiday closure approaching, residents needing passports or ID cards should act quickly. The city’s services will remain unavailable until January 2, 2026. Checking document validity and processing times in advance will help avoid last-minute issues before travel.
