Bangladesh BCS exams spark nationwide protests as candidates demand delay
Protests have erupted across Bangladesh as candidates for the 47th BCS written examinations demand a postponement. Demonstrators blocked major roads and rail routes in Dhaka, Mymensingh, and Rajshahi, causing significant disruptions. The Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC) has firmly refused to delay the exams, citing scheduling concerns and long-term preparation expectations.
The BPSC published the circular for the 47th BCS examinations in November 2024. Out of thousands of applicants, 10,644 candidates were selected to sit the written tests. The exam date was officially announced on June 3, 2025, leaving candidates with months to prepare.
The standoff continues as candidates maintain their demand for a delay, while the commission holds firm on its decision. With 10,644 candidates set to take the exams, the outcome of this dispute will impact thousands of aspiring civil servants. The BPSC has made it clear that no changes to the schedule will be considered.
