Bangladesh Border Guard rejects Arakan Army’s false accusations of Rohingya support
The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has strongly denied allegations by the Arakan Army (AA) and the United League of Arakan (ULA) regarding its border operations. In a statement released by the Bangladeshi government in November 2022, BGB categorically stated that it provides no support to any Rohingya armed groups, including those based in Rakhine.
BGB expressed disappointment over AA and ULA's acts of provocation, such as crossing the zero line and firing shots at BGB personnel on November 5. The BGB maintains the highest standards of integrity and professionalism in border security, working diligently to stop the smuggling of goods and narcotics, particularly Yaba, from Rakhine into Bangladesh.
BGB has urged AA and ULA to cease their propaganda aimed at damaging BGB's reputation. The BGB refuted AA and ULA's false narratives accusing it of supporting Rohingya armed groups like the Rohingya Solidarity Organisation (RSO) and the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA). BGB's border activities have disrupted AA's agendas and logistics, leading AA to spread these false narratives to defame BGB.
BGB's vigilant border patrols continue to protect Bangladesh's borders, ensuring the safety and security of its citizens. The BGB remains committed to maintaining peace and stability in the region, despite the provocations and false accusations from AA and ULA.
