Bangladesh Brings Home 600 Migrants from Libya in Two Weeks
Thousands of Bangladeshi migrants in Libya remain undocumented or in distress. The Bangladeshi government has been working to repatriate its citizens, with the second chartered flight this month landing on October 21, carrying 309 nationals. Preparations are underway for another flight on October 30, 2025, set to bring back another 300 migrants.
The returnees arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at around 9:30am, greeted by Bangladesh ambassador to Libya, retired Major General Abul Hasnat Muhammad Khairul Bashar. He expressed gratitude to the Libyan ministries of interior and foreign affairs for their cooperation in the repatriation process. The ambassador urged the returnees to raise awareness against human trafficking and irregular migration upon their return. This is the second such flight this month, following a similar repatriation of 309 migrants on October 9.
The Bangladeshi government continues its efforts to bring back its citizens stranded in Libya. The ambassador encouraged aspirant migrants to pursue legal migration channels through proper skills development and training, highlighting the importance of safe and orderly migration.
