Bangladesh, China Mark 50 Years of Diplomatic Ties with Grand Beijing Reception
Bangladesh and China celebrated the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic relations with a grand reception in Beijing. The event, hosted by the Bangladesh embassy and the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, honoured three Chinese individuals and two institutions for their contributions to bilateral ties.
The reception, held on Bangladesh's Independence and National Day, was attended by senior Chinese officials, diplomats, business leaders, and members of the expatriate Bangladeshi community. Vice-chairman of the standing committee of the 14th National People's Congress, Luo Sang Jiangcun, served as the chief guest.
Video presentations showcased Bangladesh's tourism, investment opportunities, and cultural heritage. A special publication by the Bangladesh embassy highlighted the country's economic potential and cultural diversity. Lu Xiangdong, vice-president of CPAFFC, stressed the importance of enhancing mutual confidence and people-to-people contact to strengthen Bangladesh-China ties.
Former Chinese ambassador to Bangladesh Liu Shuqing was honoured as a guest of honour. A commemorative postal envelope marking 50 years of diplomatic relations was unveiled during the event.
The reception marked a significant milestone in Bangladesh-China relations. Honours were bestowed upon those who have contributed to strengthening the ties between the two nations. Bangladesh ambassador to China Md Nazmul Islam delivered the welcome address, underscoring the long-standing bilateral relations and cooperation between Dhaka and Beijing.
