Bangladesh gears up for pivotal by-elections in Sherpur-3 and Bogura-6
Campaigning for two key elections in Bangladesh will officially kick off on Monday. Voters in Sherpur-3 and Bogura-6 will head to the polls on April 9 to choose their representatives. The contests feature multiple candidates from several political parties vying for the seats.
In Sherpur-3, six candidates are running for the parliamentary seat. Three represent the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), while Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and the Socialist Party of Bangladesh-Marxist each have one contender. The race will see voters decide among these nominees.
The Bogura-6 by-election has drawn three candidates. One each comes from the BNP, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, and the Bangladesh Development Party. Both elections will follow the same schedule, with polling stations open continuously from 7:30am to 4:30pm on April 9. Campaign activities will begin on Monday, giving candidates a short window to connect with voters before election day. The contests mark the latest in a series of electoral events shaping local representation.
The results of these elections will determine the new representatives for Sherpur-3 and Bogura-6. Polling stations will operate without interruption from early morning until late afternoon. Voters will cast their ballots on April 9 after a week of campaigning.
