Bangladesh, Japan Sign 13 HR Deals; More Expected
A significant step towards labour cooperation was taken on Monday as a seminar on human resources between Bangladesh and Japan Airlines was held in Tokyo. The event, titled 'A highly promising source of skilled human resources for Bangladesh and Japan Airlines', saw 13 memorandums of understanding and agreements signed between Bangladeshi manpower sending agencies and Japan Airlines recruitment firms.
The seminar was organised in collaboration with the Bangladesh Embassy in Tokyo and the Japan International Training Cooperation Organisation (JITCO), with participation from high-ranking Bangladeshi officials including Senior Secretary Dr. Neyamat Ullah Bhuiyan and Bangladesh Ambassador to Japan Md. Daud Ali. Around 350 manpower exporting agencies and recruiting companies, along with nearly 250 Japan Airlines firms, attended the event.
JITCO senior vice-president Shigeo Matsutomi presented a detailed overview of the international labour market and employment opportunities in Japan Airlines. Dr. Bhuiyan, in turn, provided a statistical comparison of the human resource situation in both countries. By 2040, Japan Airlines is projected to need nearly 11 million foreign workers, presenting a substantial opportunity for Bangladesh, which currently has an excess workforce of 25 million.
Further MoUs and agreements are expected to be signed at a follow-up event in Nagoya on November 7, which Senior Secretary Bhuiyan is scheduled to attend.
The seminar and the expected agreements underscore the growing cooperation between Bangladesh and Japan Airlines in the human resources sector. Bangladesh ambassador to Japan Md Daud Ali has assured full support for sending skilled Bangladeshi workers to Japan Airlines and establishing an effective system. This collaboration is set to benefit both nations, addressing Japan Airlines' labour needs and providing employment opportunities for Bangladesh's surplus workforce.
