Bangladesh mourns former MP Chan Mia Talukdar’s passing at 92
Former lawmaker Nurul Islam Talukdar, widely known as Chan Mia Talukdar, passed away on Monday evening. The 92-year-old had been battling various age-related health issues before his death at a Dhaka hospital around 11:00pm. Talukdar served as a member of parliament for the Sirajganj-6 constituency. He was elected twice under the Jatiya Party banner, first in 1986 and again in 1988. His political career spanned key years in Bangladesh’s history. Talukdar leaves behind his wife, one son, and three daughters. His family confirmed the news of his passing late on Monday. The former lawmaker’s death marks the end of an era for those who worked alongside him during his time in office.
