Bangladesh orders removal of all election campaign materials within 48 hours
Bangladesh’s Election Commission (EC) has ordered all parliamentary candidates to remove election campaign materials within 48 hours of announcing the poll schedule. The directive, issued on Thursday, applies to posters, banners, and other promotional items across the country. Failure to comply will result in legal action under electoral rules.
The EC’s announcement came during a televised address by Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin. He confirmed the 13th national election and a referendum would take place on February 12, setting a deadline of 6:00pm on Friday for the removal of all campaign materials.
The 48-hour window for removing election materials expires at 6:00pm today. Local authorities will continue enforcing the rule, while candidates risk legal consequences if they fail to act. The EC’s measures aim to maintain order ahead of the February 12 elections.
