Bangladesh receives 117,761 tonnes of US wheat at Mongla Port

Bangladesh's Mongla Port has welcomed two consignments of wheat, totalling 117,761 tonnes, from the United States. The first shipment of 56,959 tonnes arrived earlier, with the second, carrying 60,802 tonnes, docking on Saturday. This is part of a government-to-government agreement for a total import of 4,40,000 tonnes. The MV WECO TATI, carrying the second consignment, anchored at Mongla Port's outer anchorage. This marks a significant step in Bangladesh's wheat import efforts, with the country aiming to secure a stable food supply. The agreement between Bangladesh and the US for these imports has been finalised, although specific details about the signing parties are not available. With two consignments already delivered and more expected, Bangladesh's wheat import initiative is progressing as planned. The arrival of these vessels ensures a steady supply of wheat, supporting the country's food security efforts.
