Barmen power outage leaves 1,100 homes in the dark for hours
A power outage struck parts of Barmen on Monday afternoon, leaving around 1,100 households without electricity. The issue began at roughly 1 p.m. and was traced to a fault in the medium-voltage grid. The blackout affected residents in the Loh and Rott districts. Emergency crews identified the problem as a damaged 10-kilovolt underground cable. Repairs were carried out immediately.
Two individuals relying on electrically powered oxygen devices were taken to nearby hospitals as a precaution. Power was fully restored by 5:15 p.m., bringing an end to the disruption.
The incident lasted just over four hours. All affected areas have since regained electricity, and no further complications were reported. Local authorities confirmed the grid is now stable.
