Basel-Country By-Election: Bucher and Eigenmann Advance to Runoff

The first round of voting for the Basel-Country executive council by-election on October 26 has concluded. Sabine Bucher of the Green Liberal Party (GLP) and Markus Eigenmann of the Free Democratic Party (FDP) will advance to the runoff on November 30. Bucher received 20,133 votes, while Eigenmann secured 18,431 votes. Caroline Mall of the Swiss People’s Party (SVP), who initially ran, withdrew after receiving 13,297 votes.
