Basel-Landschaft Art Museum Earns Prestigious European Award Nomination
The Basel-Landschaft Art Museum has been nominated for the European Museum of the Year Award 2026. This prestigious prize recognises innovation, sustainability, and the exchange of ideas in cultural institutions. Seven other Swiss museums also made the shortlist for the upcoming ceremony.
The European Museum of the Year Award (EMYA) has celebrated outstanding museums since 1977. Organised by the European Museum Forum (EMF), it highlights institutions that push boundaries in creativity, public engagement, and environmental responsibility. A total of 35 museums across Europe are competing for the 2026 title.
The nomination places the Basel-Landschaft Art Museum among Europe’s most forward-thinking cultural venues. Alongside seven other Swiss institutions, it will compete for one of the continent’s highest museum honours. The final decision will be made by a panel of experts at next year’s event in Spain.
