Basel's Anti-Racism Week 2026 Tackles Discrimination Through Art and Dialogue

Basel-Stadt will hold its Anti-Racism Action Week from March 16 to 22, 2026. The event aims to challenge discrimination and promote respect across the city. Under the theme 'Peaceful Coexistence in Diversity', organisers have planned a wide range of activities for all ages.

The week begins with a forum theatre performance called 'No—But: Racism at Work'. This interactive show will explore workplace discrimination, one of the event's key topics. Another focus area is anti-racism education in schools, though exact participation numbers remain unclear.

Nearly 40 local organisations have teamed up to deliver the programme. Events will include street actions, guided city tours, and panel discussions. Workshops, readings, and youth activities will also take place, alongside radio segments discussing racial equality.

A highlight of the week is the exhibition 'Us and the Others: From Prejudice to Racism'—a deep dive into how stereotypes develop. The campaign rejects all forms of racism, stressing that discrimination harms both individuals and society as a whole.

The Anti-Racism Action Week brings together art, education, and public dialogue. Its goal is to strengthen inclusion and human rights in Basel and beyond. Organisers hope the events will inspire long-term commitment to equality.
