Rooted and committed - Report reveals trends in Bavaria - Bavaria thrives with 13.2 million residents and €773.6 billion GDP in 2024
Bavaria’s population has grown to around 13.2 million in 2024, even as birth rates decline. A new report highlights strong regional pride, with 90 percent of residents feeling deeply connected to their homeland. The findings also reveal economic growth and community spirit, alongside calls for better support in key areas.
The state’s economics expanded by roughly €50 billion in 2023, bringing its total GDP to €773.6 billion. Both rural and urban regions saw a near 7 percent increase, with rural areas—covering 90 percent of Bavaria’s land—contributing 44 percent of economic output. Upper Bavaria led in population growth, followed by Swabia, while Upper Franconia remained stable.
The findings point to a state balancing growth with tradition. Economic gains and high volunteer rates reflect resilience, while calls for better housing and clearer policies highlight ongoing needs. Füracker’s integration of public input aims to shape future strategies for Bavaria’s regions and residents.
