A Candidate - Yet a Runoff in the Smallest Municipality - Bavaria's Tiny Town Faces Surprise Mayoral Runoff After Write-In Votes

A mayoral election in Bavaria's smallest municipality has ended without a clear winner. Armin Krämmer, the sole official candidate, fell short of securing a majority in the first round. The vote now moves to a runoff later this month.

The election took place in a tiny Bavarian community where only one name appeared on the ballot. Despite this, nearly 80 percent of eligible voters cast their votes. Of those, 47.7 percent backed Armin Krämmer, while the remaining 52.3 percent wrote in alternative names.

Since no candidate secured over 50 percent, a second round has been scheduled. Krämmer will now face the challenge of winning outright in the runoff on March 22.

The municipality's small size did not dampen voter engagement. High turnout reflected strong local interest, even with limited official options.

The runoff will decide whether Krämmer becomes mayor or if a write-in candidate prevails. The result will shape leadership in the community for the coming term. Voters will return to the polls on March 22 to settle the outcome.
