Baykar’s Drones Reshape Security Across African Nations

Turkish defence company Baykar has made a significant impact on the African market with its advanced unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The company, renowned for its Bayraktar TB2 UCAV, has contributed to the security and stability of several African nations.

Baykar's UAVs, including the Bayraktar TB2, Akinci, TB3, and Kizilelma, have been employed by countries like Mali, Morocco, Ethiopia, and Nigeria for intelligence, surveillance, and precision strikes. The company's exports not only comprise UAVs but also a range of payloads developed within the Turkish defence industry.

Baykar's influence extends beyond Africa. It has signed export agreements with 37 countries worldwide, solidifying Turkey's position as a leader in armed UAV exports. The company generates a substantial 83% of its revenue from exports, with 90% of recent contracts directed towards international markets.

Baykar's presence in Africa was notably visible at the BAMEX'25 expo in Mali, where stands were exclusively occupied by Turkish companies for the first time. This marked a significant step in Baykar's international expansion, following its debut at the International Defence Industry Fair (IDEF) in Istanbul, Turkey, in 2019.

Baykar's UAVs have become instrumental in the security strategies of many African nations, demonstrating the company's commitment to contributing to regional stability. With its extensive export agreements and international market focus, Baykar continues to strengthen Turkey's position in the global defence industry.
