Bear takes over sales at Scanacs

Frank Baer has joined Scanacs as its new sales director, bringing over three decades of pharmaceutical experience. The move follows his long-term role at the Elac Elysée cooperative, where he most recently served as Chief Operating Officer. His appointment aims to strengthen the company’s push for direct billing solutions in local pharmacies.

Baer’s career in the pharmaceutical sector began in 1988, with positions at firms like Schürholz Arzneimittel, Bristol-Myers Squibb, and Pohl Boskamp. By 2004, he had moved to Dermapharm before taking on leadership roles at Elac Elysée. Since 2012, he worked there as Geschäftsführer, later becoming COO with oversight of sales and member communications.

His new role at Scanacs starts on January 1, 2023. The company, now 80% owned by Elac after its insolvency acquisition, specialises in direct billing software designed to give pharmacies more financial control. Baer’s deep industry network and board position at the Federal Association of German Pharmacy Cooperatives (BVDAK) are seen as key assets for expanding Scanacs’ reach. The software itself helps independent pharmacies streamline payments and reduce reliance on third-party systems. Baer’s leadership is expected to refine Scanacs’ sales approach, building on his track record in cooperative and commercial pharmacy operations.

With Baer at the helm of sales, Scanacs plans to grow its direct billing services across Germany’s pharmacy sector. His decades of experience and existing industry ties position the company to strengthen its market presence. The shift also marks a new phase for Scanacs under Elac’s majority ownership.
