Beat Schlatter Becomes New Municipal Clerk
Beat Schlatter has been named the next Municipal Clerk of Lindau, set to take office in April 2026. He will replace Sandra Markovic, bringing over two decades of experience within the local administration. The announcement follows a decision by municipal leaders who praised his deep understanding of the area.
Schlatter, 43 at the time of his selection, has worked in Lindau’s municipal administration since 2001. Before becoming Bezirksamtmann (Gemeindeschreiber), he held various positions, including deputy municipal clerk. His career in public service has given him extensive knowledge of the community’s operations.
Municipal President Bernard Hosang welcomed the appointment, highlighting Schlatter’s professional skills and social competence. Hosang noted that his familiarity with Lindau’s needs would be a major asset in the role. A native of Schaffhausen, Schlatter is married with three children. He holds qualifications in accounting and leadership, along with a diploma in Advanced Studies from the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland. Currently, he serves as head of finance and IT for the municipality.
Schlatter’s appointment comes after a thorough selection process. His background in finance, administration, and local governance positions him to lead Lindau’s municipal office from 2026. The transition will see him take over from Markovic, ensuring continuity in the town’s administrative leadership.
