Beckerturm celebrates 100 years as St. Ingbert’s cultural and economic beacon

The Beckerturm, a beloved landmark of St. Ingbert, turned 100 this year. To celebrate, a grand event was held at its base, drawing praise from local officials and residents alike.

Dr. Gregor Scherf from the State Heritage Office lauded the Beckerturm as a significant monument of industrial architecture. Mayor Dr. Ulli Meyer echoed these sentiments, highlighting its importance to St. Ingbert's tradition, innovation, and successful structural change.

The Beckerturm's current owner, Stefan Braun, shared insights into the area's current development. He revealed plans by Erik Ferchel to install a modern chandelier show, aiming to make the building a symbol of the connection between tradition and future.

The Beckerturm also serves as a hub for creativity and culture. It houses studio and exhibition spaces for artists, fostering cultural expression. As a birthday gift, the tower will be illuminated by a modern light installation at night.

State Secretary David Lindemann underscored the Beckerturm's economic significance. It's home to over 152 companies and around 300 jobs in the region. Nico Becker, a 94-year-old eyewitness, shared a moving account of the brewery's history.

The Beckerturm, now 100, stands as a testament to St. Ingbert's rich history and vibrant future. Its role in the community, from housing businesses to fostering art, makes it a true symbol of the town's spirit.
