Behind the Scenes of the Theater Operations in Marburg - Approximately 30 People with a Refugee and Migration Background Participate in the Tour
A group of around 30 people with refugee and migration backgrounds recently visited the Hessian State Theater Marburg (HLTM) for a special behind-the-scenes tour. The event was part of the 'Open VOICE' initiative, which connects individuals with local businesses to explore career opportunities.
The tour was organised by the Marburg-Biedenkopf district’s Office for Integration, led by Lydia Koblofsky, who coordinates the 'Open VOICE' programme. Participants came from diverse backgrounds, including Afghanistan, Iran, Ukraine, Romania, and Turkey.
Carola Unser-Leichtweiß, the HLTM’s artistic director, personally guided the group through the theatre. They explored different work areas, from carpentry and costume design to administration, gaining insight into potential training and job roles. While the HLTM currently only offers formal apprenticeships in event technology, internships in other departments remain available year-round. The visit aligns with the theatre’s seasonal motto, *TAKE CARE. FOR ONE ANOTHER. TOGETHER*, which highlights its commitment to democracy and community engagement. The HLTM also ensures accessibility by providing free tickets through the Marburger Kulturloge association for those unable to afford them.
The behind-the-scenes tour gave participants a clearer understanding of theatre careers and potential pathways into the industry. By connecting with local employers, the 'Open VOICE' initiative continues to help newcomers explore professional opportunities in the region.
