Belarusian man arrested on German train with knives, drugs and fake ticket
Federal Police intervened on an Intercity Express train from Berlin to Halle (Saale) after a conductor reported a passenger without a valid ticket. The incident on 12 March 2026 led to a search that uncovered weapons, drugs, and illegal substances. Authorities later confirmed the man was a Belarusian national with an active entry ban in Germany.
The train conductor first alerted officers when the 29-year-old failed to show a ticket during a routine check. Upon arrival at Platform 6 in Halle, federal officers boarded the train and approached the suspect, who appeared visibly nervous. He was seen trying to hide a knife in his jacket sleeve as he exited.
A full search revealed two knives, several ampoules of anabolic steroids, and narcotics in his possession. Police records also showed the man had been previously flagged for refusal of entry into Germany. Officers took him to federal police offices, where his identity was verified. Investigators have now launched proceedings against him for breaches of pharmaceutical, narcotics, and weapons laws, as well as residency violations. The man initially received a penalty fare before the wider offences came to light.
The suspect remains under investigation for multiple legal violations. His case will be handled by German authorities, with potential consequences including prosecution and deportation. The incident highlights ongoing enforcement efforts on public transport routes.
