Belarusians in Russia Face July 1 Deadline for SIM Card Biometric Data
Belarusian citizens living in Russia or visiting frequently face a July 1 deadline. They must submit biometric data to continue using Russian mobile operators' SIM cards, as announced by Sergei Glazyev, State Secretary of the Union State. This move is part of new security requirements.
Glazyev noted that the SIM card re-registration procedure is mandatory and must be completed by the given date. Belarusian citizens affected will need to provide their biometric data to Russian authorities to maintain their mobile services.
To facilitate this process, Glazyev suggested connecting the Belarusian and Russian government services portals. This would enable swift data exchange and authentication for Belarusian citizens residing in Russia. However, specific details about which Russian agency would oversee this connection remain unclear at present.
By July 1, Belarusian citizens in Russia must submit biometric data to keep their SIM cards active. Glazyev's proposal to link government services portals aims to streamline this process, although further details on the Russian agency involved are awaited.
