Bergisch Gladbach honors war victims in solemn Remembrance Day ceremony
Bergisch Gladbach residents are invited to a Remembrance Day ceremony on Sunday, November 16, 2025. The event, organized by the city and the local German War Graves Commission, honors victims of war and tyranny, including those affected by current conflicts and crises. It will take place at the war memorial in Refrath’s Siebenmorgen Municipal Cemetery, starting at 12:00 PM. The main event will feature various performances and speeches. Volkhardt Hartwig will play the trumpet solos, as he has done in previous years. Confirmation students from Holy Spirit Evangelical Church will contribute readings, adding a youthful perspective to the event. Reverend Carsten Bierei will deliver the keynote address, providing a spiritual reflection on the day's theme. The Mixed Choir of the Bensberg Kaule 1889 Harmonie Singing Association will provide musical accompaniment, enhancing the solemn atmosphere. Adolf Zirden will also perform a song with guitar, offering a moment of poignant reflection. Mayor Marcel Kreutz extends an invitation to all residents to attend the ceremony. The event aims to remember the past, honor the victims, and promote peace and unity among the living.
