Bergisch Gladbach Students Push for Safer Routes and Cleaner Math Playgrounds
Young students in Bergisch Gladbach have made their voices heard on local issues. At a Children’s Council meeting held on November 28, 2023, pupils from 15 primary schools gathered at Bensberg Town Hall to discuss their top concerns. The event highlighted the importance of involving children in shaping their community.
During the meeting, the children identified five key areas needing attention: school route safety, the condition of school toilets, digitalisation, and the cleanliness and repair of math playground equipment. After careful discussion, they narrowed their focus to the two most urgent issues—improving school route safety and fixing math playground equipment while ensuring cleanliness.
The Children’s Council has put school safety and math playground maintenance on the official agenda. The committee’s review in 2026 will determine how these issues progress. For now, the students’ efforts have ensured their concerns will be formally considered by local leaders.
