Bergisch Gladbach's Eco-Friendly Schulstraße Kindergarten Completed
Bergisch Gladbach's new Kindertagesstätte Schulstraße has reached a significant milestone. The topping-out ceremony, held on October 2, 2025, marked the completion of construction, with the city investing around 6 million euros in the eco-friendly wooden panel building. The facility, set to open soon, will provide much-needed news places for the community.
The new daycare center, designed by architecture firm Kersten + Kopp from Berlin and planned by Bureau Bauchplan from Cologne, is a modern four-group facility. It will offer up to 70 news places for children aged four months to six years. Thore Eggert, deputy mayor and school construction commissioner, praised the professional implementation of the project by the school construction GmbH. Both the incumbent mayor Frank Stein and his elected successor Marcel Kreutz participated in the ceremony, highlighting the importance of such news for the city.
The construction method used is ecologically sustainable, employing wooden panels. This not only benefits the environment but also aligns with the city's commitment to green initiatives. Once operational, the Kindergarten Schulstraße will be taken over by the Froebel Bildung und Erziehung gGmbH, ensuring quality news and education for the children.
The new Kindertagesstätte Schulstraße is a testament to Bergisch Gladbach's commitment to providing excellent, locally accessible daycare. With its eco-friendly construction and modern facilities, it will serve as a building block for forward-looking youth welfare planning in the city. The new daycare center is set to create urgently needed news places, benefiting both families and the community as a whole.
