Bergisches Land Celebrates Volunteerism at Vibrant New Year's Reception
The VdK Social Association's Bergisches Land district branch welcomed around 120 guests at its annual New Year's reception. Held at the Haus Müngsten restaurant, the event showcased the region's commitment to social volunteerism. High-profile figures and long-serving volunteers gathered against the striking backdrop of Germany's highest railway viaduct. The evening brought together key local leaders, including Solingen's Lord Mayor Daniel Flemm, Remscheid's Lord Mayor Sven Wolf, and Wuppertal's Deputy Mayor Heiner Fragemann. Their presence underscored the importance of the association's work in the Bergisches Städtedreieck.
Entertainment came from magician Michael Plenkow and musical duo Schmitz Backes, ensuring a lively atmosphere. Guests enjoyed networking opportunities, strengthening ties within the community. Bärbel Müller received special recognition for her ten years of volunteer service, becoming an honorary member. Additional honours were also awarded to long-term members, marking the close of the programme. Manuela Dörtelmann, a board member of the North Rhine-Westphalia state branch, commended the district's dedication. She highlighted the branch's role in fostering unity and support across the region.
