Berlin Accident: 22-Year-Old Critically Injured in Red Light Turn
A serious traffic accident occurred in Berlin's Prenzlauer Berg last night. A 26-year-old driver attempted a left turn on red at the intersection of Bornholmer Straße, Björnsonstraße, and Malmöer Straße, colliding with an oncoming vehicle driven by a 22-year-old.
The incident happened at around 23:30. The 26-year-old driver, who was uninjured, attempted the manoeuvre without waiting for a green light. The 22-year-old driver, however, sustained severe head injuries, including a suspected skull fracture, and was immediately hospitalized.
The exact circumstances of the accident and who was with the injured driver are still under investigation. The specialized traffic crimes unit from Police Directorate 1 (North) is handling the case.
