Berlin witnessed a series of suspected arson incidents on Sunday morning. Cars and other objects were set on fire in different districts, with two men arrested in connection with the blazes.
The day began with a car engulfed in flames near United Nations Square. Simultaneously, disturbances occurred in Lichtenberg, where a hedge in an allotment garden was set alight. Police swiftly responded, arresting a 28-year-old man suspected of involvement in the Lichtenberg incidents.
In the Friedrichshain district, a car was set ablaze, with additional fires reported nearby. Trash bins, a park bench, and a camper van were also affected, leading to the destruction of two cars and a motorcycle. Authorities apprehended a 36-year-old man suspected of arson, who was found with an injured hand and carrying ignitable materials.
Last week, similar incidents occurred across Berlin districts. A 36-year-old man was detained near a burning parked car in Friedrichshain, carrying ignition materials and with a hand injury. A 28-year-old man was arrested near multiple fires in Karlshorst involving trash bins, a bench, a motorhome, and vehicles. No confirmed link between the two arrests has been established.
Two men, aged 28 and 36, were arrested in connection with the suspected arson incidents across Berlin. Investigations are ongoing to determine if the incidents are linked. The public is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to local authorities.
