Berlin Auto Plant Shutdown Sparks Strike Over Severance Terms
The company’s parent firm, Aristo Auto Group, has remained silent on the closure. Meanwhile, the Industrial Union of Mining, Chemical, and Energy Workers (IGBCE) is demanding fair severance packages and the creation of a transfer company. This would provide retraining and job placement support for affected staff.
With Advance Auto Parts winding down, 180 jobs will disappear by the time the plant fully shuts. The loss of production capacity adds pressure on Germany’s automotive parts supply. The focus now shifts to severance negotiations and potential policy changes to prevent similar closures in the future.
