Berlin barbecue dispute escalates into violent assault with irritant spray
A 36-year-old man was seriously injured in Berlin’s Friedrichsfelde after an argument over a barbecue ban turned violent. Two attackers sprayed him with an irritant and punched him repeatedly before fleeing the scene. The incident began in the courtyard of an apartment building on Lincolnstraße. The victim confronted a group grilling in the area and warned them he would call the police. Without warning, two men attacked him, first spraying an irritant in his face.
The assailants then punched the 36-year-old multiple times, leaving him with severe facial injuries. Emergency responders arrived shortly after but found the attackers had already left. Police later recovered the discarded irritant spray at the scene.
Investigators from Police Directorate 3 (East) have taken over the case for further examination. The victim remains injured following the unprovoked assault. Authorities continue to investigate the attack, which stemmed from a dispute over a barbecue ban. The abandoned irritant spray has been secured as evidence.
