Berlin Boosts Park-and-Ride Facilities to Encourage Public Transport

Berlin is investing in its Park-and-Ride facilities, with renovations planned at several S-Bahn stations. The projects aim to enhance accessibility and safety, making the switch from cars to public transport more appealing. The work is set to continue until late 2025, with a significant budget allocated for these improvements.

The renovation at Pankow-Heinersdorf is scheduled to last until the end of 2025, with an estimated cost of 355,000 euros. Meanwhile, extensive construction work on the Park-and-Ride facility at the Pankow-Heinersdorf station begins on October 20, 2025. This project focuses on improving foot traffic safety and comfort.

Similar improvements are planned for the Plänterwald station. Its renovation aims to make the facility more functional and accessible, with completion scheduled by December 19, 2025. The work on both Plänterwald and Grünau is set to be completed by the end of November 2025. The Park-and-Ride facility at the S-Bahn station Grünau is also being renovated, with a total of 480,000 euros in funding for both locations.

These renovations are part of Berlin's broader effort to modernize its Park-and-Ride facilities, making public transport a more attractive option for commuters. The city is investing considerable resources to achieve this, with multiple projects underway and scheduled for completion by the end of 2025.
