Berlin brawl leaves multiple injured after crowd turns on police
A violent clash erupted in Berlin-Niederschöneweide following a verbal dispute that turned physical. The altercation involved multiple individuals, including teenagers and adults, and resulted in several injuries. Law enforcement responding to the scene encountered hostility from a crowd of onlookers.
The incident commenced when a 20-year-old man and a 22-year-old became engaged in a heated argument. The confrontation rapidly escalated, drawing in two other young individuals aged 16 and 17. Together, the trio allegedly assaulted the 20-year-old, his 49-year-old companion, and a 17-year-old friend.
Weapons employed in the assault included a walking aid, an e-scooter, and pepper spray. Upon the arrival of officers, they observed the 20-year-old striking one of his assailants in the face. The victims experienced eye irritation from the pepper spray and received on-site medical treatment. As police attempted to document the incident, a crowd of approximately 100 people gathered nearby. Some within the group verbally abused the officers and physically harassed them. Authorities are now exploring charges of assault and grievous bodily harm.
The case remains under investigation, with police scrutinizing the events leading to the brawl. The victims' injuries were treated on-site, while officers continue to review witness accounts. No additional arrests or charges have been announced at this time.
