Brothel Operators Donate 350,000 Euros to Children's Hospital - Berlin Brothel Operators Donate €350k to Charité Children's Clinic
Two anonymous brothel operators in Berlin have made a significant donation of 350,000 euros to the Virchow Clinic of the Charité in Wedding. The funds were used to renovate the entrance area of the children's clinic, creating a more welcoming and colorful space for young patients and their families.
The donation came about following a 2016 raid at Berlin's 'Artemis' brothel, which led to initial accusations against the operators. However, these accusations were later dropped, and in 2018, the Berlin Regional Court did not allow the indictment. The renovation, completed with the donated funds, features forest motifs, a deer and squirrel painting, and oak wood-clad pillars.
In a turn of events, the Berlin state was convicted to pay damages to the brothel operators in December 2022. Following this conviction, the operators increased their donation to the Charité to 350,000 euros. Astrid Lurati, spokesperson for the Charité, praised the renovations, stating that they create a more pleasant atmosphere for children and families in difficult moments.
The donation from the brothel operators has transformed the entrance area of the children's clinic, providing a more inviting space for young patients and their families. The Charité welcomes the donation, despite the controversy surrounding its source.
