Impersonating Police Officers Rob Cash During Car Purchase - Berlin car sale turns violent as fake cops rob buyer at gunpoint
A car sale in Berlin-Reinickendorf turned into an armed robbery when two men posed as plainclothes police officers. The pair stole a five-figure sum from a 29-year-old buyer before fleeing the scene. Authorities have since arrested one suspect, but others remain at large.
The incident began during a private car transaction. The buyer and his 38-year-old companion handed over the cash, only for the suspects to claim they were officers and seize the money. When the victims realised the deception, they chased the men into a dead-end street. One of the robbers then pulled out a firearm and threatened the buyer.
The suspects attempted to escape in a vehicle, with one allegedly running over the companion’s foot. Police later apprehended a 42-year-old man linked to the crime. In his possession, officers found a bulletproof vest, a radio device, car keys, an airsoft pistol, and handcuffs. The accomplice and the car seller have not yet been located. Investigations into the robbery are ongoing.
One suspect is in custody, but the search continues for the remaining individuals involved. The stolen money and the car used in the crime have not been recovered. Police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
