Berlin Crash: Nissan Driver Arrested After High-Speed Collision Closes Gutschmidtstraße
Early Sunday morning, a severe traffic accident on Gutschmidtstraße in Berlin's Neukölln district led to the closure of the road in both directions. Several parked vehicles were damaged, and a Nissan driver was found to have a blood alcohol level of approximately two percent.
The accident involved a Nissan, occupied by two people, which collided with a parked VW T-Cross on the right side of the road with significant force. The impact pushed the VW partially onto the sidewalk. Several other vehicles parked nearby were also damaged, including three VWs and a Mazda. Initial investigations suggest the Nissan may have been traveling at an excessive speed. The Nissan was impounded, and further investigations are ongoing.
The suspected driver of the Nissan is currently in the hospital, with their identity not yet disclosed. The accident has caused significant disruption to traffic in the area, with Gutschmidtstraße remaining closed in both directions.
